Transforming Touch
A Gentle Somatic Approach to Nervous System Regulation and Healing
Exploring a New Modality for Deep Nervous System Healing
Many people carry the effects of trauma, chronic stress, developmental wounds, and overwhelming life experiences not only in their thoughts and emotions, but also within their nervous systems and bodies.
While traditional talk therapy can be incredibly valuable, some experiences are difficult to access through words alone. Somatic therapies recognize that healing often involves working with the body as well as the mind.
Kelly Stone is currently expanding her professional training through Transforming Touch®, an advanced somatic modality that complements her existing work as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). This exciting addition will further support clients seeking gentle, body-centered approaches to healing and nervous system regulation.
Transforming Touch is expected to become available following completion of Kelly's certification training.
What is Transforming Touch?
Transforming Touch is a therapeutic approach that uses intentional, supportive touch to help regulate the nervous system and support healing from trauma, stress, developmental challenges, and attachment-related wounds.
Developed as an extension of Somatic Experiencing principles, Transforming Touch works with the body's innate capacity for regulation, connection, and healing.
The approach recognizes that many of our earliest experiences occur before we have language. As a result, some patterns of stress, overwhelm, disconnection, or insecurity may be stored within the nervous system rather than within conscious memories.
Through carefully structured touch-based interventions, Transforming Touch helps support the body's natural ability to develop greater regulation, resilience, safety, and connection
Building on Somatic Experiencing
Kelly has already completed the extensive three-year Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) training through Somatic Experiencing International.
Somatic Experiencing is a highly respected trauma resolution approach developed by Dr. Peter Levine that focuses on helping individuals safely process and release nervous system activation related to stress and trauma.
Transforming Touch builds upon this foundation by introducing therapeutic touch as an additional avenue for supporting nervous system regulation and healing. Together, these approaches offer a powerful framework for helping individuals develop a greater sense of safety, grounding, connection, and emotional resilience.
Who May Benefit From Transforming Touch?
Transforming Touch may be beneficial for individuals experiencing:
Chronic stress and overwhelm
Anxiety and nervous system dysregulation
Developmental or attachment-related trauma
Difficulties with emotional regulation
Feelings of disconnection from self or others
Persistent patterns of hypervigilance or shutdown
Challenges related to safety, trust, or connection
The lasting effects of trauma
Many people who have struggled to access healing through cognitive approaches alone find that body-centered therapies offer a different pathway toward growth and recovery.
A Gentle and Consent-Based Approach
Transforming Touch is rooted in safety, consent, and respect.
Clients remain fully informed and actively involved throughout the therapeutic process. The work proceeds slowly and intentionally, allowing the nervous system to integrate new experiences without becoming overwhelmed.
The goal is not to force change, but to create conditions where the body's natural healing capacities can emerge and strengthen over time.
This approach is particularly valuable for individuals seeking a gentle, supportive experience that honors both emotional and physical boundaries.
